Prediabetes Risk Assessment

The 2018 Community Health Needs Assessment identified Muscatine County with an obesity prevalence at 49.2%; and diabetes prevalence at 17.9%.

The 2019-2021 Muscatine County Empowering Healthy Behaviors Initiative goal is to increase access and education to nutrition and physical activity opportunities throughout Muscatine County.

The City of Muscatine has more than 10 miles of paved and unpaved trails and walkways... 30-minutes of daily activity will help reduce your risk of developing diabetes.

Healthiest State Initiative


The Healthiest State Initiative engages worksites, communities, schools, retail food, organizations, institutions, and individuals to inspire Iowans to improve their health and happiness, and ultimately achieve the goal to become the healthiest State in the nation. 

On November 5, 2018, the Iowa Public Health Association released the 2016-17 data from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation that 1 in 6 youth, ages 10 to 17 are obese. Iowa has the 10th highest obesity rate in youth ages 10 to 17 at 17.7%, and the 4th highest adult obesity rate in the nation at 36.4%.
